One Okada Rider Dies in Accident With Trailer in Ilorin

One Okada rider was feared dead in a crash involving a trailer and an Okada commercial rider in Ilorin, Kwara state capital on Saturday.

The incident which occurred along the Maraba/Zango-Kulende highway of the Ilorin metropolis at about 2-3 pm was attributed to the deceased Okada rider’s reckless attitude which led to the avoidable accident according to the Sector Commander, Ogidan Ade who confirmed the incident in a chat with journalist in Ilorin on Saturday.

The Sector Commander said the accident occurred when the driver of the trailer tried to avoid the Okada rider who entered his lane at high speed.

He, however, added that only the Okada rider lost his life in the incident, while the two other passengers escaped death.

“They were thereafter taken to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital for medical attention,” the Sector commander said

The sector commander, however, dismissed the report which claimed that three persons on the Okada motorcycle were crushed to death in the accident noting that only the Okada rider died in the accident, while two others were taken to the UNILORIN teaching hospital for medical treatment.
