Expert Urges Govt To Stop Brain Drain
Government at all levels have been urged to provide incentives for health workers to prevent brain drain in the sector.
The Executive Secretary, of Kwara State Hospital Management Board, Dr Abdulraheem Malik made the call while speaking at the 38th Media Parliament of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kwara State Council held in Ilorin.
According to him, economic factors and wages have been the issues that encourage the exodus of medical doctors and other workers out of the country.
He said the government should also provide modern working tools to improve service delivery in the sector.
Dr Malik urged Non-governmental organizations and other stakeholders to support the government in equipping hospitals to promote quality health care.
He advised members of the public to shun the habit of attacking medical personnel while discharging their legitimate duties.
Dr Malik urged the government to provide security in hospitals to protect the lives of health workers.
In his address, the Chairman, of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Kwara State Council, Abdullateef Ahmed said the exodus of medical Doctors and other workers out of the country was worrisome.
