SON Presents MANCAP Certificate to HMA Medical Limited

 

The Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) has issued a “MANCAP” certificate for ‘5ml Deleject Disposable Syringes and Needles’, one of the products of HMA Medical Limited, Ilorin.

 

The organization also reiterated its commitment to completely eradicating substandard products in the system.

 

They also commended HMA for its consistency, hard work and sustainability in producing quality medical devices.

 

In his remarks at the HMA Medical Limited plant in Ilorin, Kwara State SON coordinator, Mr Ayeni Feyishayo Oyebolaji, applauded the company for its continued dedication and innovation towards the production of superior-quality medical devices.

 

Presenting the certificate to the Group Executive Director of the company, Mr Damilola Shittu, and other management staff of HMA, the SON chief said, “We are here to appreciate, applaud and rejoice with the company. You should continue to demonstrate consistency in the quality of your products “.

 

Oyebolaji also announced that the Deleject 2ml syringe would be certified by the Standard Organization of Nigeria as soon as the necessary parameters are in place.

 

The state coordinator, while acknowledging the company’s accomplishments since inception, said HMA is a visionary in the production of medical devices and stands out amongst its counterparts.

 

“It is a feat that requires hard work, determination, dedication and critical evaluation and verification. In the last year, they met those requirements”, he said.

 

The SON coordinator emphasized that his organization represents quality, integrity and customer-centricity, targeting the overall well-being of Nigerians.

 

According to him, the goal of SON is to ensure a healthy society that prioritizes the needs of the people and works towards accomplishing those needs. He noted that the organization is relentless in ensuring that customers achieve value for money expended.

 

“If there is a substandard product in any given society, such society will be exposed to the dangers therein, leading to depreciating quality of health “, Oyebolaji added. He further stated that one of the major objectives of SON is to ensure improvement in the lives of Nigerians.

 

“When Nigerians are happy with what they purchase and live a better life, Standard Organization of Nigeria has achieved its set goals. We are concerned about the quality of life, quality of products, the level of performance of the industries in the society and quality of the distribution. SON stands for the overall quality of Nigeria”, he said.

 

He said SON had recorded a landmark achievement in eradicating substandard products and highlighting the potential dangers associated with the circulation of such products in the system.

 

Oyebolaji thanked the Government for its support and requested more interventions in terms of logistics, operational vehicles, machines, and functional office accommodations, which would enhance SON’s performance.

 

Also speaking, HMA’s Group Executive Director, Mr Damilola Shittu, thanked SON for its support and encouragement over the years.

 

Shittu, who described the regulatory organization as a mentor and partner to HMA, said that the company has sustained quality products that satisfy consumer interests and needs.

 

However, he expressed concern over the inflow of imported substandard products, particularly Syringes and Needles, that are creating undue competition for indigenous manufacturers and putting Nigerians at risk. He appealed to SON to curb the menace.

 

He promised that HMA would relentlessly prioritize the production of quality and regulatory-compliant products for safe consumption and use.

 

The ED acknowledged that SON’s mandate is to rid society of substandard products and commended its stellar record in the war against erring products.

 

Shittu pledged that HMA would always work assiduously to sustain the trust and confidence of Nigerians and the Government.

“From our end, we will continue to produce products that are acceptable to the people and the government”, he assured.

 

Shittu described the circulation of substandard, foreign syringes and other medical devices as one of the major problems plaguing the local syringe and needles industries in Nigeria, stating that “unfortunately, there are industries that lack technical know-how but are producing substandard medical devices for Nigerians”.

 

He reaffirmed that the company respects and appreciates the role of SON in the country and asserted that HMA will continue to adhere strictly to the rules and regulations guiding the production of medical devices.

 

The presentation of the certificate was witnessed by Mr Damilola Shittu, Group Executive Director; Mr Nair VBS, Group Managing Director; Purushotham Gowda, General Manager; Mr Michael Omosebi, Group Technical Adviser, Mr Mayomi Israel, Quality Assurance Manager; Pharmacist Charles Akaka, National Sales Manager; Ms Oluwatoyin Olaniyi, Group Human Resource Manager among other staff of the company.
