Don Says It’s Too Early For Varsities To Hike Fees

Prof AbdulRazzaq Alaro, the Proprietor of As-sunnah Schools in Ilorin has submitted that it is too early for some institutions to start hiking fees.
Alaro made the assertion during an interview with newsmen on the sidelines of Graduation and Formal Opening of As-Sunnah College building in Ilorin.
He explained that some institutions are putting the cart before the horse, adding that a bill has just being signed into law.
“When will it take effect, when are we going to see practically the impact on the society.
“I think it is too early for institutions to start increasing their fees, that is coming as a result of the bill that has been passed into law.
“I would have advised that we exercise a little patient so that people will start not feeling the impact and it will make it easy for them to assimilate and accommodate the development,” he said.
The don, who is a Professor of Islamic Law, at the University of Ilorin, observed, however, that the tuition hike is inevitable because it is not only the cost of food and petrol that is increasing, adding that the cost of education to has also increased.
“It is a reality, we have to do it in a way that it has hua man face, and will make it easy for people to welcome and accommodate,” said Alaro.
Similarly, the expert on Shariah Law admonished Nigerians to adhere to the rules and regulations binding on the citizens of the country.
According to him, we must allow them and do whatever is expected of us, whether we are being watched or not.
“At the same time, we appeal to our leaders, they should also realise that they have our trust and must discharged their duties with the best of their ability.
“We are going to be accountable for our deeds. Allah will ask them, have they discharged the trust bestowed on them. Just like we are going to be accountable for our performance,” he said.
Alaro who spoke at the graduation ceremony explained that the As-Sunnah academy is group of primary and secondary schools committed to impacting Western, Islamic and moral knowledge for practice.
According to him, the schools are dedicated to achieving dual excellence for the development of the country. (NAN)
