Former AD Chieftain Urges Tinubu To Address Security Challenges
President Asiwaju Bola Tinubu
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been urged to address the security challenge of the country as it gains ground everyday unabated.
Former Secretary of Alliance For Democracy Kwara State Chapter Mr Ologundide Michael Sunday made the call while speaking with newsmen in Ilorin recently.
He said ” The first thing Tinubu should do is to address the security issue because insecurity is gaining ground everyday.”
“Everyday you hear of killings, destroying peoples farms and settlement. Without farm or good security, we can’t succeed. With this insecurity thing, farmers can not go to the farm, they can not till their land and plant crops.
“Sincerely speaking, many people are ready to farm, including women and youths if they are well encouraged and if this insecurity thing is addressed
“That one will give people number one confidence to go and farm.”
He also stressed the need for government to encourage farmers in the production of crops and rearing of livestock.
“Tinubu’s government should provide equipment for the farmers. They don’t necessarily need to give them money but make sure that you see serious farmers that have space that is land. When you see the land, you help them clear the land or wherever they choose to farm.
“First of all they need bulldozers, bulldozers have to clear the land for them, then tractors would do the rest of the work.
“Government can provide this in every local government, even ward in Nigeria, if they want plenty food, they want us to be self sufficient they should farm. Nigeria can feed the rest of Africa if Agriculture is rightfully addressed.
“We can feed ourselves and then export. That is if the federal government is sincere and serious. You know the seriousness of the federal government will extend to the state, from state to local government to the ward where you can get land for farming. That is for agriculture.
“Tinubu should also prepare to revisit the 2014 confab. Let the federal government make the outcome of the 2014 confab that was organized by Goodluck Jonathan. Let Tinubu get the copy and publish it to Nigerians then not only that, he has to act on that because without that we as progressives, we don’t believe in our constitution that was imposed on us by Abacha government. Let us see what is there clearly then we can comment, this one will lead to restructuring we are talking about.
There must be restructuring, if he is sincere to us and by so doing, we can make progress, ” he added.
