Osun Speaker Stresses Need For Involvement of More Women in Politics

The Speaker Osun State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun says for any society to move forward and develop we need to involve more women as major stakeholders in politics.

Hon Egbedun made this known on Monday  during the Courtesy visit by members of the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) to the Speaker’s office in Osogbo.

He described women as good instruments for any political office holder, who wants to succeed.

 

He assured them that the present government at the state level  would involve more women in its activities.

According to him, any sound politician in the world today, will agree that we need more women in politics.

“I always enjoy large fellowship of people because of good things that are involve,” he added.

He stressed the need to create and maintain a good name and good character in the society.

He pledged to give women journalists his best and promised to always support their association.

He said, “I promise that l will give the association my best and support the association with my best”.

He assured them that he would always give priority to journalists’ welfare anytime.

In her response, the State Chairperson of National Association of Women Journalist NAWOJ Osun State Chapter Mrs Motunrayo Ayegbayo congratulated the Speaker for his victory into speaker’s office in the State, while wishing him successful tenure in office.

He said that the main purpose of the visit was to let the state speaker know their activities and programmes  in the state.

According to her, we are ready to propagate the activities of the present government at all times.

She appealed to the Speaker to involve more women in political activities in the State while assuring the speaker of the association’s collaborative efforts all the times.

However, in her remarks, the ex- officio/ ex-Chairperson of the association Mrs Olusayo Babatunde, advised the Speaker to use his good offices to include more women in governance of the State.
