Expert Counsels Veteran Journalists On Healthy Lifestyle
Veteran Journalists have been advised to imbibe healthy lifestyle to keep fit at all times.
The Focal Person for Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) at Kwara State Ministry of Health, Dr Olabisi Adebusola Oyeyipo gave the advice during an health talk programme tagged’ Healthcare
As A Sexagenerian’ ,organised by the Kwara State’s chapter of the National League of Veteran Journalists (NALVEJ).
Oyeyipo advised the senior journalists to create enough time to sleep, exercise and visit health facilities for proper health check at least once in three months.
She advised them against using same drugs prescribed for their friends simply because such drugs were effective for them.
Oyeyipo encouraged NALVEJ members to live in a clean environment to avoid some of the avoidable illness that comes with mosquitoe’s bite.
This, she said becomes imperative because some of the immunities have reduced due to old age and as elderly people, they may not be able to fight against diseases as it were at the middle age.
The senior journalists were also advised to limit their physical exercises of keeping fit to walking some distance either within or outside their environments.
To maintain and manage old age, Oyeyipo encouraged them to ensure good diets which include taking of more fruits, vegetables, pap and cutting down on carbohydrate intakes.
She advised them against eating cow meat except for its intestines and other body parts, urging them to instead eat fishes because of the vitamin E contents inherent in them.
In his remarks, the chairman of NALVEJ in the state, Alh Tunde Akanbi, thanked the guest lecturer and advised members to heed to the lessons gained from the lecture.
Akanbi encouraged his colleagues to take issues concerning their well-being seriously, saying that ‘health is wealth.’
In his contribution, the chairman, Nigerian Union of Journalists, Kwara State Council, Comrade Ahmed Abdullateef thanked the guest lecturer and commended the NALVEJ members for their support for the upcoming journalists in the state.
