Ex-Principal Tasks Alma Mater on Development of Schools

 

Old Students Associations across the country have been advised to intensify efforts at infrastructural development of their various schools to make teaching and learning more conducive for the younger ones.

Alhaji Umar Bolaji-Yahaya, a former Principal of the llorin Grammer School (lGS) gave the advice at the Re-union of the Old Students Association of Government Secondary School, Ballsh.

According to Bolaji-Yahaya, there is no government no matter how benevolent that can single handedly solve all challenges in the Education sector.

He charged old Students Association’s of various institution of learning to always come to the side of their schools on repair of dilapidated infrastructure in their various schools.

The former Principal who was the Teacher of first batch of the students of the GSS Ballsh between 1979 to 1984 commended the effort of the Association for what he described as remarkable infrastural development bring embark upon by the Association.

He advised them not to relent for more development to be attained at the institution.

In his short sermon, a cleric, Alhaji Hambali Al-lmam advised students in various institutions of learning to always allow unity and love be their watchword.

This he said was the only way they can assist one another in the future.

In his remarks, the District Head of Ballsh, Alhaji Abubakar Olarongbe praised the foresight of the GSS old Boys Association for their contributions to the school and Ballsh Community.

Speaking in similar vein, the Bale of Ballsh, Alhaji less Baba-Bale thanked the old Students for puting smiles on the face of the residents of the Ballsh through philanthropic gestures.

The Bale said the community will soon grant the request of the Association for a parcel of land in Ballsh for the construction of it’s Secretariat.

Earlier, the Nationality President of the Old Students Association, GSS, Ballsh, Alhaji Gazalu Adeniyi-Akolu said the Association had provided motorized borehole, solar water and other infrastructure at both the School and Ballsh Community.

He said the construction of 12 blocks of classrooms is in progress at the school to solve the accommodation problem at the school.

The Re-Union of all sets of the school was attended by ex-Students of the school at home and in diaspora.

Government Secondary School Ballsh was established in 1979 by the llorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (lEDPU) and was later taken over by the Kwara Government.
