Kwara Fire Service Recovers Body of 57-year-old Woman From Well

The Kwara State Fire Service on Tuesday recovered the body of a 57-year-old woman, Mrs Jamiu Sikirat of Ile-Agunko compound Adeta area Ilorin, from a domestic well.

This is contained in a statement signed by Hassan Adekunle, Head of Department, Media and Publicity of the State Fire Service om Tuesday in Ilorin.

“Today, Monday 19th June, 2023, a Woman of about 57-year-old called mrs Jamiu Sikirat of Ile-Agunko compound Adeta area Ilorin, Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State, fell into a domestic well and recovered died at Ile-Onikoko Compound adeta area Ilorin.

“The terrible incident occurred this evening about 18:42Hrs (06:42PM) and the Brigade was Summoned through an exchange Telephone call by One Mr Muhammad Jamiu Living in that neighbourhood.

“However, Firemen were able to recover the dead body from the well and later handed it over to one Alfa Abdulganiyu Akuko, a family member of the deceased, in the present of the Nigerian Police Officers, Adewole Division Ilorin,” he said.

According to the statement, the victim woman went to fetch water at the well and during the process of fetching one of his legs suddenly slipped off the ground and eventually tumbled down into the well.

Therefore, the Director, Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, expressed his Sadness over the incident and urged the general public to be more careful in their day-to-day activities and they should desist from sending under Age children to fetch water in domestic well.
