Buhari’s CoS, Gambari, Gov AbdulRazaq, Oyedepo, Others Honoured By Kwara Poly
Fifty eminent personalities who, have contributed to the growth of Kwara’s premier tertiary institution, Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, were on Friday night honoured at an award and fund raising event in Ilorin.
The event was part of the 50th Anniversary celebration of the higher institution, which began earlier in the week.
Among the 50 awardees are Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, chief of staff to President Mohammadu Buhari; Governor Abdulrahaman Abdulrazak of Kwara State and visitor to the polytechnic and Bishop David Oyedepo, Chancellor Landmark and Covenant universities, Omu-Aran, Kwara and Gotta, Ogun State, respectively. He is also the Bishop of Winners Chapel.
Speaking on the award, Engr. Dr Abdul Jimoh Muhammed, Rector, of the polytechnic, said, “The 50th anniversary of the polytechnic affords us opportunity to remember our founding fathers and eminent pillers of the society,” he said.
Also, Engr Abu Salami, President, Kwara State Polytechnic Alumni Worldwide, noted that at 50 years of existence, the institution can not move forward without reappraisal.
“Part of the reappraisal is to award individuals who have proven meritorious with honours,” he said.
The organisers of the event also had among the awardees, former military governors of the state.
They include, Brig.-Gen David Bamigboye, former military governor of the state; Group Captain Salaudeen Olatinwo, another military governor of the state.
Other awardees are Prof Sheu Jimoh, late, a former chairman, governing council of the polytechnic; Senator Saliu Mustapha, Chief Abdulraheem Oladimeji, the Jagunmolu of Igbaja, Founder and chancellor, Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin.
