Kwara Assembly To Screen Acting Grand Khadi, Kwara Shariah Court of Appeal, Confirms Appoint of Justice Adebara As CJ

Kwara State House of Assembly has directed the Acting Grand Khadi, Kwara State Shariah Court of Appeal, Ilorin Justice Abdul-lateef Kamaldeen to appear before the House for screening tomorrow, Thursday on the floor of the House at Ten O’clock in the Morning

This followed a Message from the Governor, requesting screening and confirmation of Justice Kamaldeen as Grand Khadi of the State, addressed to Speaker, Engineer Yakubu Salihu and read on the floor of the House during today’s plenary.

Engineer Salihu said Justice Kamaldeen would be screened for confirmation as the substantive Grand Khadi of the State after his recommendation to the Governor by the National Judicial Council for the appointment.

The Speaker, therefore, directed Justice Abdul-lateef Kamaldeen to submit Thirty-five copies of his Credentials to the office of the Clerk before close of work today.

Meanwhile, the House also received a petition written by the Oke Oyan Community in the Ifelodun Local Government Area against the Chairman, Transition Implementation Committee (TIC), Mr. Jide Shonibare.

The petition was presented by the lawmaker representing Isin Constituency, Hon. Olumide Awolola and was thereafter referred to an ad-hoc committee chaired by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Adetiba Raphael Olalekan for deliberation.

Also at Wednesday’s plenary, Hon. Justice Abiodun Ayodele Adebara was screened and confirmed as the substantive Chief Judge of Kwara State by the State House of Assembly.

Hon. Justice Adebara’s confirmation was considered at the Committee of Whole House Chaired by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Engineer Yakubu Danladi Salihu on the floor of the House.

Responding to questions from lawmakers, Hon. Justice Adebara promised to always ensure speedy dispensation of Justice in the State.

Justice Adebara pledged a healthy and harmonious working relationship with the other two arms of government in order to move the state forward.

He solicited for more budgetary provision for the State Judiciary to address the problems of inadequate court rooms and other challenges facing the third arm of government.

The Honourable House also confirmed the appointments of Abubakar Abdullahi Uthman, Oyedun Funke Juliana, Yusuf Abdulganiyu Aremu, and Abdul Gana Lukpada as Chairman and Members of Fiscal Responsibility Commission in the State.

Speaker, Rt. Hon. Engineer Yakubu Danladi Salihu, therefore, directed Clerk of the House, Hajia Halimah Kperogi to communicate the confirmation of the appointments to the Governor.
