Binani Hopeful of Becoming First Female Governor As Rerun Hold in 42 Polling Units

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday disclosed that rerun election will hold in 42 Polling Units to determine winner of 2023 Adamawa governorship election.

The race is between Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of PDP and Senator Aishatu Binani of APC.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer for Adamawa Prof Muhammed Mele of the University of Maiduguri while addressing Party agents after collation of Saturday’s election results from all local government areas, said the total cancelled votes are higher then 30,000 margin of victory.

Fintiri polled 421,522 votes while his main challenger, Senator Aisha Binani Dahiru garnered 390,275 votes.

The rerun will hold in seven local government areas to determine winner. INEC is yet to fix the date for the rerun in keenly contested election.

Fufore – 17

Song – 8,

Yola south – 3

Numan – 3

Michika -2

Mubi North -2
