The Commissioner of Police, Kwara State, CP Paul Odama psc+, in company of the Commissioner of Police Election in Kwara, CP Banji Ogunrinde, visited several voting units spread across Ilorin West, South, and East LGAs of the State and expressed satisfaction with the conduct of electorate and INEC officials.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Spokesperson of the Police Command, SP Okasanmi Ajayi in Ilorin on Saturday.

According to him, the police boss in a bid to ensure that the conduct of the gubernatorial and state house of assembly elections runs smoothly visited several polling units.

“His visit to some already identified volatile areas in the Ilorin metropolitan city prevented a breakdown of law and order by some agents of some political parties.”

While commending the security agents posted on duty at all the polling units visited, he equally expressed his satisfaction in the conduct of voters and INEC officials at the units.

Earlier, at the state INEC headquarters, the CP inspected some of the materials to be used for the elections while ensuring that the security men posted to provide security at the INEC office were formidable and up to the task.

“As of the time of writing this report, the sorting and announcement of election results in some of the polling units has started.

“The CP assures the good people of Kwara State of adequate security even after the elections,” he said.

He warned the people to avoid being used as canon-folders by politicians that don’t mean well for the state even as the exercise is drastically coming to a conclusion,

He said that any one arrested for any crime, be it electoral or otherwise, would be made to feel the weight of the law, as the command is already preparing the ones arrested for prosecution after the elections.
