We’ll Vote For Him’ — Ohanaeze Declares Support For Sanwo-Olu

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos has endorsed Babajide Sanwo-Olu for reelection as governor of the state.
The announcement was made on Thursday in Ikeja by Ohanaeze Ndigbo President Sunday Ossai during a joint media briefing for the March 11 governorship election.
According to Ossai, the group proclaimed its support for the governor because he had kept the commitments he made to its members throughout the campaign.
He assured the governor that Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos will repay his goodwill by mobilizing a sizable voting bloc to support his reelection.
Additionally, he denounced and disassociated the group from a claim that one Okechukwu Isiguzoro had made demanding for the resignation of the governor.
He requested that the claim be rejected and claimed that the call had not originated from either the Lagos branch or the formal Ohanaeze Ndigbo organisation.
He was cited by NAN as stating, “I hereby deny the so-called news that the Igbo body urged Sanwo-Olu to quit. As president of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos, I am a representative of Ndigbo in the state.
Because of our friendly relationship, Sanwo-Olu is the person Ndigbo should be asking to lead the state as governor.
“He stands for everything that Lagos needs Ndigbo to be. He has shown us a lot of kindness. He has put in place cordial regulations that let us pursue our careers and companies without fear or favor.
“Why should we request his resignation? He shouldn’t step down. Ndigbo will firmly support Sanwo-Olu if the constitution allows for a third term.
Sanwo-Olu should close his eyes and go to sleep because Ndigbo will support him.
The group’s female leader, Jane Okoro, gave the governor assurances that the entire women’s network in the state’s 57 local government areas (LGAs) and local council development areas (LCDAs) will be organized to support his reelection.
Okoro urged women to forbid their kids from acting as political thugs in the upcoming elections.
Oladotun Hassan, president of the Yoruba council worldwide, also addressed the audience and urged all Igbo residents of the state to reach out to their relatives and tell them to ignore the false accusations made against the governor.
Hassan sai, “I am pleading with all of our wonderful Igbo people in Lagos State to please ensure and reach out to their beloved brothers and lovely sisters and confirm to them that all those baseless accusations were nothing but satanic intrigues and orchestrated lies from a pit of hell and that it is just a premeditated antics in futility at casting aspersions against our dear Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
