2023: Gov Yahaya Bello Speaks On Dumping Tinubu Weeks To Election
Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State on Sunday denied dumping the presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu.
Bello said his support for Tinubu’s presidential ambition is 100 per cent.
In a post on his verified Facebook page, the governor said his support for Tinubu is undiluted.
There were reports that Bello dumped Tinubu’s campaign team over the APC flagbearer’s choice of governorship candidate in Kogi State.
Tinubu is reported to have opted for James Faleke as APC’s next governorship candidate in the state.
His action is reported to have angered his National Youth Coordinator of the Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign Council.
Reacting, Bello wrote: “My unwavering support for Tinubu/Shettima 2023 is 100% undiluted. God bless APC!!! God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria!”
The rumour is coming barely 24 hours after Naja’atu Muhammad, a key player in the Tinubu-Shettima campaign dumped the APC.
The All Progressives Congress, APC, had earlier dismissed reports that Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has withdrawn support for Bola Tinubu.
Bello is a member of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, PCC.
The Kogi helmsman was among the presidential aspirants before Tinubu won the ticket in June 2022.
National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka labelled the speculations “maliciously false and a figment of the imagination of its author and sponsors.”
Morka said Bello, who serves as the National Youth Coordinator of the PCC is a solid, resourceful and committed campaigner” for Tinubu.
The spokesman noted that “the fake news” seeks to float a rift between Bello and Hon. James Faleke, secretary of the APC PCC.
