VC Al-Hikmah Varsity Urges Govt To Accord Priority To Education Funding

The Vice-Chancellor, Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, Prof. Noah Yusuf has advised government at all levels to accord top priority to funding of education.
Speaking on Tuesday at the 12th convocation news conference, Yusuf called on the federal government to prioritise education by ensuring proper funding.
According to him, if education is properly funded and all the children have access to quality education it will reduce criminal activities in the country.
Prof Yusuf identified inadequate funding, absence of support from the government, infrastructural gap as major factors affecting the rising enrolment among private institutions.
He said the university is set to graduate 1,280 with 25 first-class graduates in its 12th convocation ceremony slated for Saturday, December 10 at institution’s auditorium.
The Vice-Chancellor, said that 362 students graduated with Second Class (Upper Division), while 566 bagged Second Class (Lower Division).
He also said that 94 students graduated with Third Class, just as another 49 students graduated with Postgraduate (Master) degrees, while 49 students bagged Diploma certificates.
The Vice-Chancellor noted that the Al-hikmah University for the first time in recent years recorded a higher number of admitted regular students for 2021/2022 session because of the effect of covid-19.
He recalled that the university organised virtual learning when students from other institution were sitting at home doing nothing during COVID-19 pandemic.
