Police In Kwara Arrest Notorious Cultist With Arm

Kwara State Police Command has arrested one notorious cultist, who has been on the wanted list of the Anti-cultism team, named Monday Ojoagbu ‘M’ and other members of his gang, on a mission to carry out another gruesome attack on a target yet to be identified.

The spokesperson of the command, SP Okasanmi Ajayi made this disclosure in a statement made available to Choicereporters in Ilorin on Wednesday.

According to him, a team of Kwara State Police Command’s Anti-cultism Team, that were acting on intelligence arrested one notorious Cultist who has been on the wanted list of the Anti-cultism team named Monday Ojoagbu ‘M’ and other members of his gang.

“The cultists were on a mission to carry out another gruesome attack on a target yet to be identified, but were traced and arrested at Ace Supermarket located at Unity area of Ilorin on 2/8/2022 at about 1800hours.

“Recall that Ilorin the Kwara state capital has witnessed some cult killings and counter – killings by opposing cult confraternities in recent times, which has unnecessarily heightened tension amongst residents of the state.

“In an attempt to arrest the suspect, while also avoiding likely collateral damage in the process of the arrest, it was difficult to simultaneously arrest the other members of his gang who escaped using customers of the supermarket as shields.

“Investigation of the matter is presently ongoing,” he said.

Ajayi explained that one locally made pistol and two live cartridges were recovered from the suspect.

Meanwhile, the police spokesperson said efforts are in progress to arrest his fleeing accomplices.

In another unfortunate incident, he said information was recieved by the Divisional Police Officer, Offa, at about 15:34hours of 2/8/2022 to the effect that, a boy’s lifeless body was seen hanging on a tree behind Ariya garden hotel, Offa.

“A team of police men from the Divisional headquarters was swiftly drafted to the scene.

“The victim who was later identified as Adegoke Adeyemi ‘M’ aged 17years, a student of Offa Grammar School, who was believed to have hanged himself as a result of his failure to pass his promotion examination from SS1 to SS 2, which necessitated his being asked to repeat the class,” he said

Ajayi said that the corpse was removed and taken to General hospital Offa for autopsy, while investigation into the matter is ongoing.

The Commissioner of Police, Kwara State, CP Tuesday Assayomo psc (+) reinstated his earlier assertion that, Kwara State can never play host to criminals of whatever nomenclature.

“Therefore, cultists and other lawbreakers are for the umpteenth time warned to borrow a new leaf or relocate to another state, as no effort would be spared by the command in smoking criminal elements out of Kwara State.”

He advised parents to monitor their children and show them love at all times, adding that though suicide is not a crime, attempt to commit suicide attracts arrest and prosecution.
