GLOHWOC Marks International Women’s Day 2026 with a Call to “Give to Gain” for Gender Equality

Global Hope for Women and Children Foundation (GLOHWOC) joins the global community in commemorating International Women’s Day 2026, under the theme “Give To Gain.”” This year’s campaign emphasizes a powerful truth: when societies invest in women and girls through education, protection, leadership opportunities, and economic empowerment, everyone benefits.
Across Nigeria and around the world, millions of women and girls continue to face barriers, including poverty, limited access to education amd leadership, gender-based violence, early marriage, and economic exclusion. GLOHWOC believes that overcoming these challenges requires collective action, shared responsibility, and sustained investment in the empowerment of women and girls.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Executive Officer of GLOHWOC – Dr. Christiana Abayomi-Oluwole emphasized that empowering women and girls is not only a matter of justice but also a pathway to sustainable development.
“When we give women education, safety, opportunity, and voice, we gain stronger families, resilient communities, and inclusive economies. Investing in women is not charity, it is a strategic investment in the future of our society.”
The “Give To Gain” campaign encourages governments, civil society organizations, private sector actors, and communities to actively contribute to advancing gender equality by providing resources, opportunities, mentorship, and support systems for women and girls.
As part of its commitment, GLOHWOC continues to implement programs that promote:
Second-Chance Education for out-of-school adolescent girls
Prevention of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and harmful practices
Economic empowerment initiatives for young women
Community engagement to transform harmful gender norms
Advocacy for inclusive policies that protect women’s rights
Through these initiatives, GLOHWOC is helping to ensure that marginalized girls and women are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities needed to thrive.
Theme: Give To Gain: Investing in Women, Transforming Communities
This International Women’s Day, GLOHWOC calls on stakeholders to:
Give opportunities so girls can learn and lead.
Give protection so women and girls can live free from violence. Give resources to women-led initiatives and grassroots organizations. Give voice and visibility to women’s leadership. Because when women rise, communities prosper, economies grow, and societies become more just and inclusive.
Call to Action GLOHWOC urges policymakers, development partners, and community leaders to strengthen investments in programs that advance women’s rights and opportunities.
Together, we must give more so that women and girls everywhere can gain equality, dignity, and a brighter future.
