Egbetokun Resigns As IGP, Tinubu Accepts his letter of resignation

Abuja – President Bola Tinubu has accepted the letter of resignation of Dr Kayode Egbetokun as the Inspector-General of Police.
Sources within the presidency conformed the development this afternoon, saying that indications to this emerged as early as Monday when the president ordered Egbetokun out of a meeting.
Meanwhile, President Tinubu on Tuesday accepted the resignation of Egbetokun, following his letter of resignation citing pressing family considerations.
Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, disclosed in a statement on Tuesday.
The statement said Tinubu received Egbetokun’s resignation earlier on Tuesday and expressed his profound appreciation for his decades of distinguished service to the Nigeria Police Force and the nation.
The president commended Egbetokun for his dedication, professionalism and commitment to strengthening internal security of the country during his tenure.
Egbetokun was appointed as IGP by Tinubu in June 2023.
