Governor AbdulRazaq Praises Veteran Journalists, Assures Them Of Partnership

The Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has commended the leadership of the National League of Veteran Journalists( NALVEJ) in the state for their contributions to the development and stability of the state.
AbdulRazaq said the league’s regular and insicive commentaries on state and national issues had really served as quality inputs into government’s policies and programmes.
The governor spoke at the 2026 lecture and get together programme of NALVEJ, held at the Press Centre of the state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), GRA, Ilorin.
Represented by his senior adviser and counselor, Alhaji Saadu Salahu, the governor assured the veteran journalists of a continued partnership in the course of serving the state.
While thanking the league for prioritising the health of its members by organising regular health talks, the governor also showcased the achievements of his administration in the health sector.
He said:” We have prioritised the health sector in the last seven years, especially the primary healthcare to ensure the wellbeing of our people.
” The state has won for three consecutive times the best performing state in the health sector in north central. Recruitments have been made to beef up personnel in the health sector.”

Mrs Bola Olukoju also thanked journalists in the state for their objective reportage.
She, however, tasked them to continue in that direction by always ensuring balanced and accurate reportage of events in the state.
In a goodwill message, a former commissioner for Information in the state, Alh AbdulRaheem Adedoyin thanked the leadership of NALVE for keeping hope alive for the veteran journalists.
He charged journalists to help the electorate make good choices during the 2027 general elections by publishing details about past developmental efforts of aspirants.

Dr. Oluwatoyin Tajudeen Alabi, philanthropist, advocate of good governance and Chief Executive Officer of Integrated Catering Company, owners of Promise Fast Food, said the Media organisations deserve commendation for sustaining the nation’s democracy in the past 27years.
According to Dr Alabi, the media have been assisting the nation to improve on its democratic experience. They keep pointing out things we need to do, or things we are doing well and what we are not doing well.
Earlier, the state chairman of NALVEJ, Alhaji Mohammed Tunde Akanbi, had briefed the attendees on the programmes and activities of the league.
He said the league prioritise the wellbeing and heath of its members, reason why it features regular health talks during its monthly meetings.
Akanbi who acknowledged the various support of the administration of Governor AbdulRazaq for the veteran journalists, praised him for his unprecedented achievements across the health, education, infrastructure, and other sectors.
He requested the governor to bankroll the payment of health insurance premiums for the veteran journalists.
An expert on Ear, Nose and Throat, Professor Habeeb Omokanye of the Department of E.N.T. University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) delivered a lecture on the care of ear, nose and throat at the event.
Omokanye who emphasised the need for people to visit the hospital whenever they noticed any symptoms of uncomfortability in the above sensitive organs of the body, cautioned them against using sharp objects like keys or matches to scratch their ears.
Dignitaries that attended the event include the special advisers on Special Duties and Media, Alh AbdulRazaq Jiddah and Alh Bashir Adigun respectfully, senior special assistant on Religion ( Islam), Alh Ibrahim Danmaigoro, the governor’s chief press secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye who was represented by his deputy, Alh AbdulRauf Agboola, Amirah of the Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria( FOMWAN) Alhaja Balikis Oladimeji, general manager of Radio Kwara, Malam Kayode Aremu, representative of the general manager of Radio Nigeria, Harmony FM, Idofian, Hajiya Binta Mora, state chairperson of the National Association of Women Journalists( NAWOJ) and former spokesman of the Kwara State Police Command, Mr Ajayi Okasanmi.
