Military Intensifies Offensive Against Bandits in Kwara, Targets Hideouts Across Ifelodun, Patigi, Edu

The Nigerian military over the weekend intensified operations against bandits terrorizing communities in Kwara State, launching coordinated airstrikes and ground assaults across Ifelodun, Patigi, and Edu Local Government Areas.

Several notorious hideouts have reportedly been destroyed, and many suspected criminals neutralized.

Sources on the ground revealed that the offensive focused on known bandit camps in Baba Sango in Ifelodun, Gbugbu forest in Edu, and Lata community in Patigi.

Preliminary security reports indicated that the operations have caused chaos among the gangs, forcing them to flee their strongholds while sustaining heavy casualties.

A military spokesperson said, “Our combined air and ground operations aim to dismantle the leadership and logistics of terror groups along the Kwara–Niger axis. We are committed to restoring peace and protecting the lives of innocent residents.”

The spokesperson also raised concerns about the role of informants within local communities.

“Some individuals have been leaking information on troop movements, which undermines the effectiveness of our operations.

We urge residents to cooperate fully with security agencies and report anyone aiding criminal activities,” the official added.

Community leaders have echoed the military’s call, warning residents that shielding criminals prolongs insecurity and puts lives at risk. They encouraged local populations to assist authorities by exposing collaborators and providing credible intelligence.

Security sources confirmed that operations are ongoing, with troops pursuing fleeing terrorists and extending clearance efforts into forests and border communities.

The military assured residents that it remains determined to flush out all criminal elements and restore safety across affected areas.
