200 NSCDC Officers Get New Ranks in Kwara, Pledge Stronger Security Service

No fewer than 200 officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, have been decorated with their new ranks following their recent promotion, in a ceremony that highlighted the Corps’ resolve to strengthen professionalism and security operations across the state.
The decoration, which took place on Tuesday at the NSCDC State Command Headquarters in Ilorin, was presided over by the State Commandant, Dr Umar J.G. Mohammed, who commended the officers for what he described as years of dedication, discipline and integrity in service to the nation.
Dr Mohammed told the newly promoted officers that their elevation was both a recognition of past performance and a test of future responsibility. According to him, promotion within the Corps is “a mark of trust and a call to greater responsibility,” stressing that higher rank must translate to improved conduct, stronger leadership and better service delivery.
He said the Command expects renewed commitment and professionalism from the officers, noting that the security challenges facing the country require personnel who are disciplined, proactive and people-oriented.
The Commandant also praised the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for what he described as impactful reforms within the Corps, particularly in the areas of personnel welfare and operational capacity.
He noted that the Minister’s support has boosted morale among officers and strengthened the NSCDC nationwide.
Dr Mohammed equally acknowledged the Commandant-General of the NSCDC, Prof Ahmed Abubakar Audi, for sustaining a merit-based promotion system and prioritising training and professionalism.
He said the leadership of the Corps has continued to inspire confidence among officers through fairness and transparency in career progression.
While congratulating the newly decorated officers, the Commandant encouraged those yet to be promoted to remain patient and committed, assuring them that the Corps remains guided by due process and merit in its promotion exercises.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Deputy Commandant of Corps, Awoyale Olusoji, expressed gratitude to the management of the NSCDC for finding them worthy of promotion.
He pledged that the officers would justify the confidence reposed in them through greater dedication to duty and loyalty to the country.
“We see this promotion as a renewed call to serve Nigeria with integrity, professionalism and excellence,” Olusoji said.
The ceremony attracted senior officers of the Corps, family members of the promoted officers and other invited guests, who joined in celebrating what many described as a major milestone in the careers of the beneficiaries.
