Egbewole hails Arowona on radio unveiling, we’re proud of your achievements

 

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has congratulated a distinguished alumnus of the University, Dr AbdulAzeez Arowona, on the formal launch of his radio station, Emirate Radio, Ilorin, scheduled for Thursday, January 1, 2026.

In a statement signed by the University’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun, the Vice Chancellor said that he and the entire members of the University community are delighted with the accomplishments of the veteran journalist over the years and particularly with the radio station he has just established.

The Vice Chancellor described Dr Arowona, who is a 2007 Political Science graduate of the University, as an energetic, enterprising and prolific media professional who has been continuously breaking new grounds in media enterprise and general leadership.

Prof. Egbewole said that the University has been following the career of Dr Arowona, who is also the Press Secretary to the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, over the years as he said that he is always impressed with what he has achieved for himself and the society at large.

The Vice Chancellor, who is also the Secretary-General of the Association of West African Universities (AWAU), also thanked Dr Arowona for using his RoyalNews online newspaper to advance the cause of the University of Ilorin.

Prof. Egbewole wished the new radio station a resounding success as it makes inroads into the global broadcasting terrain.
