Hon. Oladele John Nihi, Special Adviser to the Kogi State Governor on Youth and Student Matters, has donated two motorcycles to the Vigilante and Hunters Associations in Aiyegunle Gbede, as part of efforts to strengthen security and safety in the community.

The donation, which took place in Aiyegunle Gbede, was presented to the Olu of Aiyegunle Gbede, Oba Lateef Haruna, the Community Development Association (CDA), and members of the community.

Nihi said the gesture was in support of the Kogi State Government’s resolve to combat insecurity, crime and criminality across the state.

According to him, the motorcycles will enhance the operational capacity of local security groups, especially in surveillance and rapid response within the community.

“This is my way of contributing to the fight against insecurity in our dear state and community because security remain a collective responsibility of government and the people,”he said.

The special adviser described the donation as part of his commitment to community development and improving the quality of life of the people of Aiyegunle Gbede, his home community.

Nihi urged the Vigilante and Hunters Associations to ensure that the motorcycles were used strictly for official security duties.

“Let us ensure that these motorcycles serve the people and the purpose for which they are given, and not personal interests,” he cautioned.

He however, also called on youths in Aiyegunle Gbede to actively support security agencies in the fight against crime.

“I urge our youths to partner with the police, vigilante groups and hunters to combat criminal activities. Together, we can make our community safer and brighter,” he said.

Speaking at the event, Oba Lateef Haruna commended Nihi for the gesture, describing it as timely and impactful, and assured that the community would ensure the proper use of the motorcycles for improved security.

Nihi was accompanied to the event by Hon. Eniola Olayemi, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Grassroots Sensitisation, and Hon. Kunle Ola, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Grassroots Mobilisation.

Community members expressed appreciation to the donor and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting government and community-led security initiatives.
