Christians in Kwara State and across the country have been urged to uphold the true essence of Christmas by embracing love, sacrifice and service to humanity, as Dr. Oluwatoyin Alabi extended warm greetings to the Christian community to mark the 2025 Christmas celebration.

In a goodwill message, Dr. Alabi described the birth of Jesus Christ as a profound reminder of God’s enduring love for mankind and a call on believers to mirror that love in their relationships with one another and the larger society.

He noted that Christmas transcends celebrations and festivities, adding that it is a season for reflection, reconciliation and renewed dedication to peace and selfless service.

Referencing Luke 2:11 — “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord”, Dr. Alabi stated that the message of Christ’s birth remains deeply relevant in a world challenged by division, hardship and insecurity.

He noted that the hope and joy proclaimed by the angels in Bethlehem should continue to inspire unity and mutual support within communities.

He also cited Isaiah 9:6, “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given… and his Name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace”, stressing that Christ embodies peace in times of uncertainty and light amid darkness.

Dr. Alabi encouraged Christians to use the Christmas season as an opportunity to extend compassion to the less privileged, support the vulnerable and foster harmony across religious and cultural boundaries.

According to him, peaceful coexistence remains a cornerstone of sustainable community development.

He commended the Christian community in Kwara State for its continued contributions to the state’s development through faith-based initiatives, moral leadership and social responsibility, noting that such efforts have positively impacted society.

Dr. Alabi further called for prayers for sustained peace, security and progress of Kwara State and Nigeria, urging citizens to remain hopeful despite prevailing challenges.

“Christmas reminds us that light ultimately overcomes darkness. As we celebrate, let us recommit ourselves to building a society founded on love, justice and compassion,” he said.

He concluded by wishing Christians a joyful Christmas celebration and a prosperous New Year, praying that the season brings renewed hope, good health and divine grace to families and communities.
