Police Commission Promotes Senior Police Officers, Charges Them on Service Delivery

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of several senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force to higher ranks, following what it described as a thorough and merit-driven assessment process.
The promotions came after written examinations and oral interviews conducted at the commission’s corporate headquarters in Jabi, Abuja, with the exercise presided over by the PSC Chairman, retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, Hashimu Salihu Argungu.
Among those elevated from the rank of Commissioner of Police to Assistant Inspector General of Police are CP Agene Emmanuel FCID of Kaduna State, CP Ihebom Chukwuma of the Force Criminal Investigation Department, Abuja, alongside five other senior officers.
Speaking to the newly promoted officers, Argungu congratulated them on their advancement and reminded them that the new ranks come with increased responsibilities and public expectations.
“Promotion is not just a reward but a call to higher service. You must brace up to your new responsibilities with renewed commitment to the nation,” he said.
The PSC Chairman stressed that the commission expects the officers to rededicate themselves to effective policing, protection of lives and property, and the maintenance of law and order across the country.
According to him, “With higher rank comes higher expectations. Nigerians are looking up to you to deliver professional, people-oriented and intelligence-driven policing.”
Argungu also reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to regular and merit-based promotions in line with global best practices, noting that competence and integrity would continue to guide career progression within the police force.
The promotion exercise, the commission said, reflects its determination to strengthen leadership within the Nigeria Police Force and enhance overall security operations nationwide.
The development was disclosed in a statement signed by the Head of Protocol and Public Affairs of the commission, Torty Enjoy Kalu.
