NOA Moves to Boost National Unity, Seeks Women’s Council Support on New Values Charter

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has opened fresh collaboration with the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS) to drive nationwide awareness on unity, equality and moral discipline as Nigeria prepares to launch a new National Values Charter.
During a visit to the NCWS headquarters in Abuja, the NOA North Central Zonal Director, Dr. Priscillia Gondoaluor, said the partnership was designed to strengthen national integration by leveraging the influence of women in homes, communities and public life.
She explained that the charter, expected to be unveiled soon by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, would be incorporated into the school curriculum and used as a tool to reshape behavioural standards across the country.
“Women are very strategic in the peaceful coexistence and progress of the nation. Wherever a woman is, there is development,” Dr. Gondoaluor said. “Women anchor the moral strength of families because they spend more time with children. This is why your role in promoting the values of this charter is critical.”
She highlighted that the charter emphasizes equality, peace, discipline and accountability, adding that NOA intends to work with the council to ensure the messages reach communities nationwide.
“This is why we are here. We seek your support in speaking to women about these values so they can help drive the national identity project,” she said.
Dr. Gondoaluor also revealed that the agency would introduce compulsory training on the charter for newly sworn-in leaders at various levels of government and ensure that at least 70 percent of children’s cartoons on local television promote the nation’s values.
She expressed concern over the growing negative influence of modern television content on children, stressing that the moral direction of any nation determines its level of development.
Responding, the National President of NCWS, Princess Edna Azura, commended NOA’s commitment to nation-building and pledged her council’s readiness to work closely with stakeholders to promote the charter.
She described the partnership as timely and expressed optimism that it would strengthen efforts to advance the interests and development of women across the country.
