From the bustling streets of Omu-Aran to the serene town of Oro and the vibrant city of Offa, a wave of transformation is sweeping through Kwara South — a change many residents described as “hope restored” under the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

For the people, these projects are not just about infrastructure; they symbolize dignity restored and promises fulfilled.

Omu-Aran: Progress in Action

In Omu-Aran, a town celebrated for its history and strong communal values, traditional leaders have expressed appreciation for the governor’s impact.

The Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba Abdulraheem Oladele Adeoti (Olomu Efon II), through the Asanlu of Omu-Aran, High Chief Emmanuel Oyedepo, commended Governor AbdulRazaq for his commitment to the community’s growth.

“We sincerely appreciate His Excellency for recognizing Omu-Aran through key appointments and ongoing infrastructural projects,” Chief Oyedepo said during a media tour by members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kwara State Council.

“The appointment of our indigene as Chief Medical Director of the Thomas Adewumi Teaching Hospital is a source of pride to us. We pray for more wisdom for our governor to continue leading the state successfully.”

A major highlight of the town’s progress is the near completion of the Omu-Aran Water Works rehabilitation — a project that had been abandoned for years.

According to Site Supervisor, Mr. Tunde Adewale of DELKO International, the project is now 90 percent completed.

“All treatment plants and new pumps have been installed. What remains is the installation of a 500KV transformer,” Adewale said.

The Petu Aran of Omu-Aran, High Chief Lawrence Oladele Adeboye, expressed satisfaction with the quality of work and appealed for expansion to meet the town’s growing demand.

“This water facility used to serve nearby communities like Iloffa and Odo-Owa. We appeal to the governor to help us expand it so that it can once again meet the needs of our people and our neighbours,” he said.

He also called for the deployment of technical staff and security personnel to safeguard the facility.

Oro: Roads and Healthcare Restored

In Oro, Irepodun Local Government Area, residents are equally witnessing visible change. The rehabilitation of the Oro-Isie Road has been described by locals as a “dream come true.”

“Before this reconstruction, motorists dreaded passing through this road because of its poor state,” the Asanlu of Oro Kingdom, High Chief (Dr.) Simeon Kayode Olayemi Olayioye, said. “Now, it’s a smooth and safe route, and we thank our governor for this timely intervention.”

He also praised the state government for revamping the Oro General Hospital, which had been in a deplorable state for nearly two decades.

“When I visited years ago, the theatre roof was leaking, and surgeries were nearly impossible. Today, the transformation is real and visible,” he added.

Chief Olayioye, however, appealed to the state government to install speed breakers along the newly rehabilitated road to prevent accidents caused by reckless driving.

Offa: Sports and Youth Development on the Rise

In Offa, the air of renewal is equally strong. The ongoing construction of the Offa Sports Stadium, handled by Urban Nexus Limited, has become a rallying point for youth and sports development in the region.

According to the Managing Director of the company, Architect Abdulmajeed Mustapha, the first phase of the 3,000-capacity stadium will be completed in six months.

“The facility will feature a football pitch, indoor gym, volleyball and basketball courts, and an athletics track. It will serve as a hub for sports and social events,” he said, adding that the foundation is being built to last for decades.

“The governor has emphasized quality, and we are committed to delivering just that,” Mustapha assured.

Special Adviser on Sports to the Executive Chairman of Offa Local Government, Mr. Olabusoye Oladapo, also lauded Governor AbdulRazaq’s commitment to youth empowerment.

“Sports unite people and create opportunities for the youth. This stadium will open new doors for our young athletes,” he said.

Water Projects and Rural Impact

Kwara State Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Usman Yunusa Lade, revealed that between April and September 2025, the government had executed numerous rural and urban water projects across the state.

“These include drilling 35 new boreholes, rehabilitating major waterworks in Omu-Aran, Oyun, Kaiama, and Irra, and extending water supply to underserved communities,” he said.

“Governor AbdulRazaq’s vision is clear — water for every household. Clean water is not a privilege; it is a right, and we are working to make it a reality for every Kwaran,” he added.

Omupo: Upgrading of Health facilities

An APC stalwart in Omupo, Elder Rotimi Ajide also appreciated the administration of Governor AbdulRazaq’s towards the upgrading of Omupo Cottage Hospital and equiping it with necessary infrastructure. The facilities in the hospital has been serving the people in the ward and Omupo vicinity. The people in Omupo are indeed very grateful to this administration, also for the recent free medical screening, treatment and surgery sponsored by the administration of Governor AbdulRazaq’s.

A New Dawn for Kwara South

From the renewed flow of water in Omu-Aran to the smooth drive along the Oro-Isie and Ajase-Ipo–Okeiya–Oke-Ode roads, and from the modernized Oro General Hospital to the rising Offa Sports Stadium, residents agree on one message — development is no longer distant; it is happening right where they live.

Governor AbdulRazaq’s infrastructural blueprint, they say, is not just transforming towns but redefining lives across Kwara South.
