Miyetti Allah Demands Justice Over Alleged Killings of Fulani, Seeks Compensation for Victims in Kwara

The Kwara State chapter of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has called on the state government and security agencies to thoroughly investigate the alleged killing of Fulani residents in Edu Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement issued in Ilorin, the State Chairman of MACBAN, Alhaji Shehu Garba, urged the government to ensure justice for the victims and compensate affected families for the loss of lives, destruction of property, and disruption of livelihoods — similar to what was reportedly extended to other ethnic groups in comparable situations.
Alhaji Garba expressed concern over what he described as the state government’s insufficient response to recurring attacks and destruction of property belonging to Fulani communities.
He alleged that the association’s findings showed that incidents in Oke Ode (Ifelodun Local Government), Omu-Aran (Irepodun Local Government), and Gbugbu (Edu Local Government) had led to the deaths of about 20 Fulani persons.
He also claimed that 42 livestock, including cows, sheep, and goats, were missing, while more than 1,200 bags of grains and several shelters were destroyed.
The MACBAN chairman further alleged that local vigilantes conducting stop-and-search operations along the Omu-Aran road arrested at least five Fulani travellers, who were handed over to security agencies but have since remained missing.
He also decried recent attacks on Fulani individuals allegedly carried out by persons wearing vigilante uniforms approved by the state government, describing the situation as “worrisome and unacceptable.”
Alhaji Garba, therefore, appealed to the state government to urgently intervene, ensure that Fulani victims are treated fairly, and provide adequate compensation for their losses in the interest of justice and equity.
He also urged security agencies to thoroughly investigate the alleged disappearance of the Fulani persons handed over to them by vigilantes in Omu-Aran, with a view to uncovering the truth behind their whereabouts.
