The Youth Farmers Organization for Agricultural Development in Nigeria has conferred Merit Awards of Excellence on the President of Dangote Industries Limited, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, and the company’s Vice President, Mr. Devakumar Edwin, in recognition of their immense contributions to national development, industrial growth, and youth empowerment.
The awards were presented during a two-day advocacy visit and facility tour of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery in Lagos, where the delegation commended the refinery as a “national pride” and a “symbol of industrial excellence” that has positioned Nigeria on the path of economic transformation.
Speaking during the presentation, the National President of the organization, Comrade Abdulrahman Umar Etudaye, described Dangote as a beacon of hope for Nigerian youths and a model of selfless leadership.
“Alhaji Aliko Dangote’s commitment to Nigeria’s economic growth and his continuous support for youth empowerment make him a true patriot and a national asset,” he said.
Etudaye noted that Dangote’s efforts in driving local production and job creation through massive investments have not only boosted the economy but also inspired a new generation of young entrepreneurs.
Similarly, Mr. Devakumar Edwin was honoured as Patron of the organization for his outstanding leadership and dedication to sustainable development.
The youth group commended his role in ensuring the successful implementation of projects that promote industrialization and youth inclusion in economic activities.
During the visit, the youth farmers toured key sections of the refinery and expressed admiration for its cutting-edge technology, safety standards, and environmental sustainability measures.
They described the refinery as a catalyst for industrial growth and an example of how private sector investment can drive national progress.
“The Dangote Refinery is not just a business enterprise—it represents hope for millions of Nigerians. It shows that with vision and determination, Nigeria can achieve self-reliance in petroleum production,” Etudaye added.
In his response, Mr. Devakumar Edwin thanked the Youth Farmers Organization for the recognition and pledged continued partnership with youth-led initiatives aimed at tackling unemployment and strengthening food security.
“Our focus remains on empowering young people, supporting innovation, and creating opportunities that will sustain Nigeria’s economic future,” he said.
The youth farmers also invited Mr. Edwin to serve as Chairman of their forthcoming National Food Security Summit in Abuja and extended an invitation to Alhaji Dangote to attend the event as Special Guest of Honour.
The organization reaffirmed its commitment to promoting food security and youth empowerment while collaborating with key stakeholders, including Dangote Industries, to advance national development and economic prosperity.
