NSCDC Mourns Edo Commandant Agun Gbenga

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of its Edo State Commandant, Agun Gbenga, who collapsed shortly after delivering a goodwill message at a peace advocacy event in Benin City.

A statement signed by the Corps’ National Public Relations Officer, CSC Afolabi Babawale, revealed that the incident occurred at the Bishop Kelly Pastoral Centre during a programme organised by the International Association of World Peace Advocates.

The late Commandant was rushed to the Military Base Hospital, where doctors confirmed him dead.

Commandant General of the NSCDC, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, described Gbenga as “an astute and iconic security expert who gave the best of his service to enhancing the security of the nation.”

Prof. Audi added, “His dedication, humility in service, and intelligence earned him so much respect and admiration amongst his fellows. His death is a monumental loss not only to the Corps but to the nation at large.”

The NSCDC has extended its condolences to the family of the deceased, praying for God’s strength to help them and the Corps bear what it called an irreparable loss.

“Adieu, gallant officer. May his soul rest in peace,” the statement concluded.
