FG declares October 1 public holiday

 

The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, October 1, 2025 a public holiday to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement signed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.

The minister congratulated Nigerians both at home and abroad, urging citizens to uphold unity, patriotism and resilience as the nation celebrates another milestone since independence in 1960.

Tunji-Ojo also called on Nigerians to continue supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, stressing that national rebirth and collective prosperity depend on every citizen’s commitment.

The government has also unveiled the theme for this year’s anniversary: “Nigeria @ 65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation.”
