The political atmosphere in Kwara South took a decisive turn this week when Dr. Oluwatoyin Alabi, community leader and visionary advocate of development, met with the Kwara South APC Elders Forum.

What many thought would be a routine consultation turned into a historic moment of endorsement, as the elders pledged their support for his political journey.

The meeting, held in an atmosphere of candor and mutual respect, showcased the power of intergenerational dialogue. Dr. Alabi, who has consistently championed the cause of equity, grassroots empowerment, and sustainable growth, laid out his vision for Kwara South with striking clarity.

He emphasized that the future of the region depends on unity, purposeful leadership, and the courage to challenge underdevelopment.

At the heart of his presentation was a 7-point agenda, which he described as the cornerstone of his mission:

1. Education and Human Capital Development – Revamping schools, investing in technical/vocational education, and empowering youths with employable skills.

2. Healthcare Access – Strengthening primary health centers, promoting preventive care, and ensuring affordable healthcare delivery.

3. Agricultural Advancement – Supporting farmers with modern tools, financing, and market access to make agriculture the backbone of the economy.

4. Infrastructure Renewal – Improving roads, power supply, and water systems to open up rural communities and boost commerce.

5. Youth and Women Empowerment – Expanding opportunities in entrepreneurship, sports, and leadership to harness the potential of the largest demographic group.

6. Security and Community Safety – Collaborating with stakeholders to address insecurity through technology, intelligence sharing, and local vigilance structures.

7. Good Governance and Accountability – Promoting transparency, equity, and people-centered policies that place Kwara South at the center of decision-making.

“My mission is not about personal ambition; it is about repositioning Kwara South for relevance and prosperity in the broader Kwara project,” Dr. Alabi said, drawing nods of approval from the elders.

The elders, many of whom have been gatekeepers of political direction in the region, did not hold back in their response. They praised his humility, recalling how rare it is for a leader of his caliber to sit with them to listen, share, and seek guidance.

More importantly, they pledged their political support, describing him as a bridge between the old and the new — a leader capable of uniting Kwara South’s diverse voices.

The endorsement signals more than political backing. It is a symbolic passing of the torch from a generation of leaders who built the foundations, to a new generation determined to consolidate and innovate. Observers believe this support will not only boost Dr. Alabi’s political strength but also galvanize the youth and grassroots movements already inspired by his vision.

As the meeting drew to a close, there was a palpable sense of optimism. The handshake, the smiles, and the closing prayers pointed to a shared belief: that Kwara South stands on the threshold of a new era.

For many who have longed for fresh ideas and honest leadership, Dr. Oluwatoyin Alabi’s rising profile represents hope — and with the elders now firmly behind him, the journey ahead looks even more promising and assuring.
