Rore Armed Robbery Attack Claims Two Lives, Police Vow To Arrest Suspects 

 

The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed the death of two people following an armed robbery attack along the Rore/Arandun highway in Irepodun Local Government Area on Thursday morning.

The incident, which occurred around 6:30 am, saw suspected armed robbers invade the home of a businessman, Mr. Oyetoyan Dare. In the process, his private security guard, 40-year-old Mr. Wale Ajiboye, was shot dead while trying to stop the attackers from gaining access to the residence.

The same gang, according to police reports, later ambushed a vehicle transporting farm produce from Ora in Osun State. The driver, Mr. Taiye Yebi, 38, who was unaware of the robbery scene ahead, was shot dead, while a passenger sustained minor injuries.

Police operatives who arrived at the scene recovered expended and live ammunition. The remains of the deceased have been deposited in the morgue, while investigations continue.

Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, described the incident as unfortunate and assured residents that the culprits would not escape justice.

“We have ordered a discreet investigation and intensified patrols in the area to prevent a recurrence. Normalcy has been restored, and we will ensure those behind this act are apprehended,” he said.

Police spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, also urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies as efforts to track down the criminals intensify.
