KWASU Council Chairman Hails Governor AbdulRazaq’s Investment in Health, Education
Chairman of the Governing Council of Kwara State University (KWASU) and former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor AbdulGaniyu Ambali, has praised Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for what he described as remarkable strides in education and healthcare across the state.
Professor Ambali gave the commendation during a visit to the Kwara State University Teaching Hospital ahead of the final accreditation of the university’s Medical School and the commencement of clinical training for medical students.
He noted that the AbdulRazaq administration has consistently embarked on people-focused projects, citing the transformation of the General Hospital into a Teaching Hospital as a clear example.
“This initiative will not only enhance the training of medical students and other health professionals but also deliver quality healthcare services to the people of Kwara and neighbouring states,” he said.
The KWASU Council Chairman urged the hospital’s management to ensure full readiness for the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria’s accreditation exercise scheduled for September, adding that students’ clinical training should commence immediately after approval.
On his part, the Chief Medical Director of the Teaching Hospital, Dr. Bola Ahmed, commended Professor Ambali and KWASU’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Sheikh Luqman Jimoh, for their support in achieving what he described as a landmark in the state’s healthcare and educational advancement.
Dr. Ahmed also lauded the state government’s steady investment in medical equipment and infrastructure. “The government’s interventions are not only improving healthcare services but also positioning Kwara as a pace-setter in medical training and healthcare delivery in Nigeria,” he said.
He reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to providing the facilities, manpower, and resources required to train medical students and deliver world-class healthcare to citizens.
The meeting was attended by KWASU Vice Chancellor, Professor Sheikh Luqman Jimoh, alongside top management staff of the university and the teaching hospital.
