NSCDC Opens New Outpost in Ilorin GRA to Strengthen Security
Residents of the Government Reserved Area (GRA), Ilorin, have welcomed a new security outpost established by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, aimed at boosting grassroots security and ensuring quicker response to threats.
Commissioning the facility, the State Commandant of NSCDC, Dr. Umar J.G. Mohammed, said the outpost represents a strategic effort to deepen security presence within the metropolis.
He explained that the Corps remains committed to protecting lives, property, and critical national assets across the state.
“This facility will be fully put to use with trained officers who will handle emergencies, patrol the neighbourhood, and work hand in hand with residents to curb criminal activities.
“Security is everyone’s business, so we call on community members to share timely information and support our efforts,” Dr. Umar stated.
The Chairman of the GRA community, Pa Abidoye, hailed the initiative as a much-needed relief, noting that it will help deter crime and provide residents with a greater sense of safety.
“We sincerely appreciate the Corps for bringing security closer to us. This gives the community confidence that their lives and property are well protected,” he said.
With the outpost now operational, officers are expected to respond swiftly to distress calls, prevent crimes before they occur, and strengthen collaboration with residents towards a safer Ilorin.
