Kwara Govt Reaffirms Commitment to Business Growth, Touts SMEs Support Initiatives
The Kwara State Government has reiterated its commitment to creating a business-friendly environment that encourages growth and innovation, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
This assurance was given by the Commissioner for Business, Innovation and Technology, Hon. Damilola Yusuf-Adelodun, during the 55th Annual General Meeting of the Kwara Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KWACCIMA), held in Ilorin on Tuesday.
Yusuf-Adelodun noted that the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq remains focused on initiatives that support local businesses and reduce poverty through access to funding and capacity building.
“Our government will not relent in ensuring that the right atmosphere is in place for businesses to thrive. Through programmes like the Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP), in collaboration with our ministry, we are driving empowerment by supporting viable cooperatives, business groups and individuals with the resources they need to grow,” she said.
The commissioner applauded KWACCIMA for its consistent support to business owners and its contribution to the state’s economic development. She described the partnership between the state government and KWACCIMA as vital in achieving sustainable economic progress.
In his address, the President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Alhaji Jani Ibrahim, described KWACCIMA as a strong pillar in Nigeria’s business community, adding that the AGM was an opportunity to evaluate progress and define strategic directions.
“This gathering provides a platform to reflect on what has been achieved, understand the present landscape and plan for the future. NACCIMA remains committed to supporting all state chambers in achieving their mission,” Ibrahim stated.
Also speaking, KWACCIMA President, Mrs. Oluronke Adeyemi SAN, expressed appreciation to the state government for its backing of the business community. She highlighted the creation of the Small Claims Court as a significant move to ease the process of resolving commercial disputes for SMEs.
Commissioner for Solid Minerals, Mrs. Olaitan Buraimoh, also commended the Governor for the support given to the sector, calling on KWACCIMA to maintain the credibility and hard work for which it is known.
The AGM brought together business leaders, government officials and stakeholders to review progress and explore strategies for improving the business environment in Kwara State.
