Olomu of Omupo Mourns Late Oludofian of Idofian, Oba Omikunle
The Olomu of Omupo, His Royal Highness, Oba Muhammed-Yakubu Adebayo Buari,
Ilufemiloye II, has expressed shock and deep sadness on the news of the passing away of the Oludofian of Idofian, HRH Oba Olarewaju Adedamola Omikunle.
This is contained in a statement personally signed by the Olomu of Omupo, Oba Adebayo Buari Ilufemiloye II and made available to newsmen in Ilorin on Thursday.
Oba Buari is particularly pained by the death of Oludofian considering his young age, the very limited period of his reign in relation to the tremendous peace, stability and high spirit of commitment to community development he has ignited in the minds of the indigenes of Idofian.
Oba Buari referred to late Oba Omikunle as a good friend, saying “we shared lot of ideas on how to bring about sustainable development in our various domains, Omupo District, Omupo Constituency, Ifelodun Local Government Area and Kwara State, in general during his brief reign”.
“Within his short reign, Oba Omikunle also brought our towns and people closer than
before nourishing and strengthening the growing relationship and friendship between him and myself as well as the two communities as well as their people home and abroad”, Oba Buari stated.
Oba Buari recalled that late Oba Omikunle was, a month ago, at the programme to
celebrate his 15th year coronation where he stayed throughout in spite of the personal
inconvenience this may have caused him.
“It is therefore with heavy heart that I and all indigenes of Omupo at home and abroad,
commiserate with you on the transition of Oba Olarewaju Adedamola Omikunle.
“We beseech Almighty God to grant his soul the best of His mercies and grant you, the
indigenes of Idofian and his immediate family the fortitude to bear the loss. Amen,” Oba Buari added.
