Fear gripped communities in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State on Wednesday following separate deadly attacks by armed men that left three people dead and a 12-year-old girl kidnapped.

In a statement from the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi said,  the first incident occurred at about 1:30 a.m. in Mari and Lile villages, both located in the Lade axis of Patigi.

“The assailants struck with deadly force, killing 35-year-old Timothy Paul in Mari village. In Lile village, 51-year-old Alhaji Abdullahi Shehu and his 22-year-old son, Abdullahi Muhammad, were also killed in the assault.

“The victims were confirmed dead by a medical doctor at a hospital,” the police statement revealed. “Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend those behind these heinous acts, with prosecution to follow.”

“Just two hours later, at about 3:00 a.m., another group of four armed men attacked Aiyetoro Fulani Camp in the same LGA. They abducted 12-year-old Hassana Abdullahi, the daughter of a local herder, Mr Abdullahi Jowuro.”

Police said the crime scene was documented and secured immediately.

In response, the Kwara State Police Command deployed joint tactical teams, including police operatives, local vigilantes, and hunters, to the affected areas to comb the surrounding bushes and intensify rescue efforts.

While reassuring the public of its commitment to safety, the command urged residents to stay vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities.

“We understand the fear these incidents may cause, but we assure the public that all necessary measures are being taken to restore peace and bring the perpetrators to justice,” the statement added.
