Philosophers Club ’78 Omupo Mourns Ex-Kwara Gov., Communications Minister, Cornelius Adebayo

 

The Philosophers Club ’78 Omupo in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State has expressed deep sorrow and a profound sense of loss over the demise of Cornelius Olatunji Adebayo, former Kwara Governor and one-time Minister of Communications.

The Club in a condolence message on Wednesday in Omupo, signed by its interim Chairman and secretary,  DCP Funsho Olarinoye-Ajao (Rtd)  and Rev Felix Ajide noted that his death has left a deep void not only in our state, but in Nigeria in general.

Club members remembered that Chief C.O Adebayo was the Chief Launcher of Philosophers Club during its launching at the newly constructed Omupo Town Hall, December 1978/79

“We recall that he came early in the afternoon that day because it was meant to be night programme and gave the club  a cheque donation.

“Chief Adebayo was a man of great principle, intellect, integrity and unwavering courage.

“A true elder statesman and leader who led with wisdom, dignity, vision and encouraged the youth.

“He was one of the finest minds and politicians to come out of Kwara, and his contributions to our democracy, governance, and education sector will remain indelible.

“The club joined the people of Kwara, and well-meaning Nigerians in mourning this national treasure and icon.

“May Almighty God grant his soul peaceful rest and give strength to the family to bear the iirreparable loss,” the statement added.
