Abdullahi Fires Kwara Team to Semi-Finals at Gateway Games
Team Kwara continued their impressive run at the ongoing 22nd National Sports Festival in Abeokuta with a decisive 2-0 win over Team Imo, thanks to a stellar performance by Muhammed Abdullahi.
The quarterfinal clash, held on Friday in Ikenne, saw Abdullahi net twice, sealing victory and booking Kwara’s place in the semi-finals. His performance not only thrilled spectators but also positioned Kwara as a serious contender for the football gold at this year’s Gateway Games.
Speaking after the match, an elated Abdullahi said, “We came here with one mission—to make Kwara proud. Scoring twice is great, but the credit goes to the whole team for the hard work.”
Kwara’s coach expressed confidence in the team’s chances going forward. “This result is a reflection of the dedication and unity in our squad. We’ll take this energy into the semi-finals,” he said.
Team Kwara will now shift focus to their semi-final fixture, where they aim to sustain the momentum and edge closer to a podium finish.
