IDF destroys former Syrian regime’s primary military headquarters,
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the Israeli Air Force command center in the Kirya, during the strike against the Houthi terror regime targets in Yemen.
The IDF reports that it has located and destroyed what it describes as the former Syrian regime’s primary military headquarters at the summit of Mount Hermon during recent operations inside Syria.
The raid was carried out by the IDF’s 810th “Mountains” Regional Brigade, with support from paratroopers and combat engineering units.
According to the military, the compound, once controlled by the Assad regime, contained fortified bunkers and a large stockpile of weaponry, including artillery, rockets and their launchers, mortars, explosives, and landmines.
Since the fall of Assad’s government in December, the IDF has established a presence at nine positions within southern Syria, primarily in areas patrolled by the UN along the border.
Israeli forces have advanced up to 15 kilometers into Syrian territory with the goal of intercepting weapons that could be seized by hostile entities.
Israeli defense officials have emphasized their intention to ensure the complete demilitarization of southern Syria and to prevent any armed factions—including those affiliated with Syria’s new leadership—from establishing a presence in the region.
Meanwhile, the IDF has announced that it conducted airstrikes in Lebanon this evening, hitting what it described as a Hezbollah facility used for producing and storing strategic weapons in the Beqaa Valley.
The military said Hezbollah had begun restoring the site, which had been previously targeted. Additional strikes were also carried out on several Hezbollah positions near Srifa in southern Lebanon.
According to the IDF, Hezbollah’s activity and the weapons found in these areas represent clear breaches of the agreement between Israel and Lebanon.
