Kwara Fire Service Recovers Body of Middle-Aged Man from Asa River
The Kwara State Fire Service on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, recovered the lifeless body of an unidentified man from the Asa River in Ilorin.
According to a statement issued by the Head of Media and Publicity, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, the deceased, estimated to be about 45 years old, was discovered floating in the river by officials from the state Ministry of Environment.
The officials, who arrived at the Fire Service Operational Centre in a vehicle with registration number 17B-D4KW, promptly alerted firefighters to the scene.
A response team from the Fire Service was immediately dispatched to recover the body and prevent potential environmental risks.
The remains were later handed over to the Ministry of Environment, pending formal identification and claims by the deceased’s relatives.
Reacting to the incident, the Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, urged residents to prioritize safety in their daily activities.
He also cautioned against sending underage children to fetch water from domestic wells, stressing the importance of vigilance in preventing avoidable tragedies.
