Police Rescue Three Children as Kidnappers Strike Along Obbo-Aiyegunle Road in Kwara
The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed a troubling case of kidnapping that occurred along the Obbo-Aiyegunle/Osi Road in Ekiti Local Government Area, leaving seven passengers abducted.
According to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the incident took place around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2025.
Armed men, reportedly numbering about eight, ambushed a Sienna bus with registration number FFA 50 XD en route from Abuja to Offa, and whisked away seven occupants, including the driver.
Following a swift response from police operatives and local vigilantes, the vehicle was recovered and a coordinated search of the nearby bush led to the rescue of three children aged between two and twelve.
“One of the children was able to provide the police with detailed information about her guardian, who was contacted immediately. The three rescued children have now been reunited with their families,” the statement revealed.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, has ordered an intensified search operation, promising that the Command is deploying all available resources to ensure the safe return of the remaining victims and bring the perpetrators to justice.
“We are fully committed to the safety and protection of all residents. Anyone with useful information is encouraged to contact the police through our established communication channels,” CP Ojo said.
The Command’s ongoing efforts include discreet investigations, intelligence gathering, and sustained bush combing in the area, as the state continues to battle rising concerns over security on major roads.
