Emir of Bauchi turbans former governor Abubakar as 1st Makama Baban

 

The Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Adamu has turbaned the former governor of Bauchi state, Mohammed Abubakar (SAN) with the traditional title of the 1st Makama Baban Bauchi.

Makama Baban typically means advisor or deputy of an Emir or King which signifies a position of high respect and authority.

Speaking during the turbaning ceremony, the Emir urged the new traditional title holder to use his office to bring development as well as elevate the Bauchi Emirate and the state at large.

Also speaking Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state, said that the celebrant was eminently qualified to be in the position he was given.

The governor expressed confidence that he would bring more development to the state.

Dignitaries present at the turbaning ceremony are; Kashim Shettima, Vice President of Nigeria, Gov. Yaya Inuwa of Gombe state, Prof. Ali Pate, Coordinating Minister of Health, Yusuf Tuggar, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Ahmed Dangiwa, Minister of Housing.

Others included; former governor Ahmed Mu’azu, Sen. Samaila Kaila, representing Bauchi North and Mr Ali .M. Ali, the Managing Director, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), amongst others.

The Vice President gave out the hands of the first Makama Baban’s daughter, Hadiza Abubakar in marriage to Sadiq Wanka with a bride price of N300,000 shortly before the turbaning ceremony.
