KWASU Hails Yusuf Ali’s Philanthropy Ahead of Ilorin Turbanning

 

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council of Kwara State University (KWASU), Professor Abdulganiyu Ambali, has described renowned lawyer and philanthropist, Professor Yusuf Ola-Olu Ali (SAN), as a rare Nigerian whose generosity continues to uplift countless lives.

Professor Ambali led a delegation of the university’s council members and management staff to Ghalib Chambers on Wednesday, April 9, to felicitate with Professor Ali ahead of his upcoming turbanning as the Kuliyan’geri of Ilorin by the Emir of Ilorin.

He said the Emir’s decision to honour Professor Ali with a traditional title reflected the people’s appreciation of his immense contributions to the society.

“This honour confirms that people are watching and taking note of those who truly add value. Professor Ali is one of such individuals. His selfless service and generosity have made a real difference,” Ambali stated.

He also praised the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Zulu Gambari CFR, for the choice of Professor Ali, saying it showed a commitment to rewarding integrity and service.

“KWASU is proud to be associated with Professor Ali. His support for our institution and beyond is a testament to his love for knowledge and community development,” the former Unilorin Vice-Chancellor added, praying for more strength and guidance for the honouree.

Responding, Professor Ali said he was deeply moved by the visit, describing it as an encouragement to continue serving society.

“I am sincerely grateful for this visit. It means a lot to me, and it serves as a reminder that we must keep supporting institutions that are building the future, like KWASU,” he said.

The turbanning ceremony of Professor Yusuf Ola-Olu Ali as Kuliyan’geri of Ilorin is scheduled to take place at the Emir’s Palace on Friday, April 11, 2025.
