Gov AbdulRazaq, others pay tributes to late mother of Olofa of Offa

 

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has described the late Alhaja Gbadamosi, the mother of Olofa of Offa as a symbol of motherhood, grace, and strength whose life made a lasting impact on Offa and beyond.

The condolence message was contained in a signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor,  Rafiu Ajakaiye to the traditional ruler.

“Our heartfelt sympathies and prayers are with His Royal Majesty at this difficult moment,” the governor said in his condolences message.

“We urge His Royal Majesty to be comforted by the rare grace of Allaah on Alhaja for a fulfilling life, the joy of being a major chapter in the community’s story, and the happiness of seeing her children become success stories.”

Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, echoed similar sentiments, describing the late matriarch as “a great woman who lived an impactful and exemplary life worthy of emulation.”

In a message released by his media aide, Sheu Abdulkadir Yusuf, the Speaker urged the royal family and the Offa community to draw strength from her enduring legacy.

Joining the mourners, the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, offered prayers and words of comfort to the grieving monarch.

“The incident, although saddened, is accepted in total submission to the Will of Almighty Allah,” the Emir said in a condolence message conveyed by his spokesperson, Abdulazeez Arowona.

“The thoughts and prayers of the entire traditional council are with the Olofa at this time.”

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Wahab Egbewole, SAN, noted the significance of Alhaja Gbadamosi’s life and values, describing her as “a virtuous woman who devoted her life to the service of God and humanity.”

He said her death is not just a personal loss to the royal family but also to the entire Offa community.

In his message, Professor Egbewole prayed for her peaceful repose and strength for all those mourning her.

Similarly, the Vice Chancellor of Kwara State University (KWASU), Professor Shaykh-Luqman Alade Jimoh, in a statement on behalf of the university, paid glowing tribute to the late queen mother.

“She was a reservoir of culture, morality, and godliness whose influence spread far beyond her immediate environment,” Professor Jimoh remarked.

“Her passing is a loss to us all.”

He said the university community shares in the pain of the royal family and prayed that Allah grants her Aljanah Firdaus and comforts the Olofa and the people of Offa.

As more sympathizers continue to visit the palace and send in messages, the people of Offa remain united in grief, celebrating the life of a woman many have called the pillar behind the Olofa’s success and a guiding light to generations.

The ancient town of Offa recorded the death of Alhaja Hawawu Awele Gbadamosi, mother of the Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Esuwoye II on Saturday.

The respected matriarch passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the age of 94, sparking a wave of condolences from prominent figures and institutions across Kwara State.
