IGP decorates 20 AIGs, 19 CPs with new ranks, restates commitment to Police reforms

Inspector-General of Police, Dr. Egbetokun Olukayode Adeolu, has called on newly promoted senior officers to embrace strategic reforms that will enhance policing in Nigeria.

The IGP made this call on Tuesday, while decorating 20 newly promoted Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) and 19 Commissioners of Police (CPs) at the Goodluck Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

Speaking at the ceremony, which was attended by dignitaries, family members, and professional colleagues of the officers, the IGP emphasized the need for a modern, efficient, and citizen-friendly police force.

“This promotion is not just a reward but a call to higher responsibility. We must be proactive and committed to reforms that will strengthen public trust and operational efficiency,” he stated.

The promotion, recently approved by the Police Service Commission (PSC) on the IGP’s recommendation, is part of ongoing efforts to restructure and improve the Nigeria Police Force. According to Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the current administration has recorded the highest number of promotions within the shortest period, reflecting the commitment to personnel welfare and career progression.

The newly promoted officers expressed gratitude for the recognition and pledged to contribute their expertise towards advancing security and law enforcement in the country.
