Kwara Police Dismiss Bandit Invasion Rumors, Assure Residents of Safety
The Kwara State Police Command has refuted claims that fleeing bandits from Zamfara State have infiltrated Bani town in Kaiama Local Government Area, urging residents to disregard the rumors.
In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, described the reports as baseless and aimed at inciting fear among the public.
“There is no intelligence or operational report indicating the presence of armed bandits in Bani or anywhere in Kwara State,” she stated. “These rumors are being spread by mischief makers to create unnecessary panic.”
The Commissioner of Police, CP Victor Olaiya, reassured residents that security agencies remain vigilant and proactive in safeguarding lives and property across the state.
“Kwara remains secure, and our officers are on high alert to respond to any threats. We urge residents to verify information before sharing and to avoid spreading falsehoods,” he said.
The police command encouraged the public to report any suspicious activities through official channels, providing emergency contact numbers: 07032069501 or 08125275046.
