Former Kwara Head of Service, Modupe Oluwole is Dead
Kwara State is mourning the loss of a distinguished civil servant, Mrs. Susan Modupe Oluwole, who passed away on Wednesday, March 5,.
Her death has left a deep void in the state’s civil service, where she was widely respected for her professionalism and dedication.
Oluwole, who was appointed Head of Service in 2017 by former Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, retired in 2024 after decades of meritorious service. Known for her integrity and commitment, she played a key role in shaping policies that improved the welfare of civil servants in the state.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, in a condolence message, described her passing as a great loss to the state. “She was a dedicated professional whose impact on the civil service will not be forgotten.
Her rise to the top was a testament to her hard work, brilliance, and unwavering character,” the governor said in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye.
Recalling her contributions, a senior civil servant who worked closely with her said, “Mrs. Oluwole was a beacon of discipline and integrity. She mentored many of us and always prioritized the welfare of workers.”
Before becoming Head of Service, she served as the Permanent Secretary in charge of Service Welfare, where she championed better working conditions for civil servants.
Her passing has triggered an outpouring of tributes from colleagues, associates, and government officials, all acknowledging her enduring legacy in public service.
Governor AbdulRazaq extended his condolences to her family, particularly her husband and elderly father, as well as to the entire civil service community.
Reacting to her death, former Head of Service, Alh Mohammed Dabarako described Oluwole as a very good and hard working administrator. ” You can give her a job to do and go to sleep. She was that good.
She was one of the best directors under me when I was Head of Service. The state has lost an icon in the civil service. May Allah grant her eternal rest. Dabarako.
Also reacting, forner Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Isiaka Gold described Oluwole as honest, hard working and very dedicated to her job.
“She spent most of her working life in the Head of Service department, so she knows the job thoroughly. Kwara has lost a gem in the civil service”, Gold said.
